Anthony Scaramucci is an American financier, entrepreneur, author, and political commentator who has an estimated net worth of $150 million. Sometimes nicknamed “The Mooch,” Scaramucci is widely known for his brief tenure as White House Director of Communications under Donald Trump.

His time in the role lasted just 11 days in July 2017, making it one of the shortest tenures for a senior White House communications position in modern history. Because of this, the term “Scaramucci” has even been humorously used in popular culture to refer to a period of 11 days.

Outside politics, Scaramucci built most of his wealth through his work on Wall Street, particularly as the founder of SkyBridge Capital, a hedge fund platform and investment management firm.

    Early Life

Anthony Scaramucci was born on January 6, 1964, in Long Island, New York, and grew up in the town of Port Washington. His father worked as a construction worker, and he was raised in a middle-class household.

After graduating from Paul D. Schreiber High School, he attended Tufts University, where he earned a degree in economics. He later received a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where one of his classmates was future U.S. president Barack Obama.

    Anthony Scaramucci Net Worth History

Scaramucci’s wealth has been the subject of public debate over the years. In 2008, he stated during a television interview that his net worth was around $80 million.

In 2017, a financial disclosure released during his time in the Trump administration showed that he had approximately $85 million in liquid assets, along with additional holdings that included real estate investments and a minority stake in the New York Mets. He also reported mortgage liabilities estimated between $2.5 million and $7 million.

    New York Mets Investment

In 2012, Scaramucci joined a group of investors—including comedian Bill Maher—to purchase a 4% stake in the New York Mets for about $20 million.

In 2020, billionaire hedge fund manager Steve Cohen bought the Mets for approximately $2.4 billion. After accounting for the team’s debt, the equity portion of the deal was valued at roughly $2 billion, meaning Scaramucci’s stake was estimated to be worth about $80 million.

    Real Estate

Scaramucci has also invested in real estate over the years. In 2018, he purchased a home in the The Hamptons for $7.49 million.

Around the same time, he listed another Hamptons property for $3.99 million, though it was not immediately sold. In 2019, he listed the larger property for $9.75 million, eventually selling it in 2020 for about $7.5 million.

In 2019, he also bought a home in Manhasset for approximately $3 million.

    Goldman Sachs

After graduating from law school, Scaramucci chose not to practice law. Instead, he joined Goldman Sachs in 1989.

He initially worked in the firm’s investment banking division but was fired after about a year. Two months later, he was rehired by the company’s equities division. In 1993, he was promoted to Vice President in Goldman’s private wealth management division.

Scaramucci left Goldman Sachs in 1996 to launch Oscar Capital Management, which was later sold to Neuberger Berman. Neuberger Berman itself was later acquired by Lehman Brothers, making Scaramucci a managing director in its investment management division.

    SkyBridge Capital

In 2005, Scaramucci founded SkyBridge Capital, an investment firm that specializes in hedge funds and alternative investments. At its peak, the firm reportedly managed more than $7 billion in assets.

He also launched the SkyBridge Alternatives Conference, often referred to as the SALT Conference, which attracts investors, political leaders, and business executives from around the world.

In 2011, Scaramucci received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his work in the financial industry. In 2014, SkyBridge acquired the rights to the television program Wall Street Week.

    White House Communications Director

Scaramucci gained national attention in July 2017 when he was appointed White House Communications Director by President Donald Trump.

His tenure lasted from July 21 to July 31, 2017, making it one of the shortest appointments in the history of the position. During this brief period, he gave a controversial interview to The New Yorker, where he harshly criticized other administration officials.

The controversy contributed to his dismissal shortly after John F. Kelly became White House Chief of Staff.

    Media Career

After leaving the White House, Scaramucci became a frequent television commentator and political analyst. Over time, he publicly distanced himself from Donald Trump and became one of the former president’s outspoken critics.

He has appeared on various television programs and even competed on Celebrity Big Brother. He is also the author of several books on business and personal branding, including Hopping Over the Rabbit Hole.

    Personal Life

Scaramucci was first married to Lisa Miranda for 23 years before the couple divorced in 2014. That same year, he married Deidre Ball, who worked in investor relations at SkyBridge Capital.

The couple has two children. Their marriage briefly faced challenges during Scaramucci’s White House appointment but they later reconciled.
