Veteran motorsports photojournalist Anwar Sidi made an urgent appeal to the public to help recover electronic valuables stolen last night at his South C Estate home in Nairobi.
Sidi said burglars broke into his house and made away with a MacBook Pro laptop and several external hard drives containing decades of irreplaceable work.
Among the stolen items is a MacBook Pro, Model A2338 EMC 3578, serial number FVFF32N7Q05H, which Sidi said had all his current work.
Also taken were five external hard drives containing what he described as a lifetime collection of photographs and data spanning more than four decades.
“The external drives have photos and data from 1983 to 2025, including images from the 2025 Classic Safari and material from the WRC Safari Rally project,” Sidi said in an appeal shared on social media platforms.
He added that the loss goes beyond the monetary value of the equipment, noting that much of the material is professionally and historically significant and difficult, if not impossible, to replace.
Sidi has appealed to anyone who may come across the laptop or the external drives, or receive information about their whereabouts, to contact him immediately.
He also urged the public to share the information widely on social media to increase the chances of recovery.
Sidi said a reward would be offered based on the number of items recovered and whether the data remains untampered.
Anyone with information can reach Anwar Sidi on 0722 786 714 or 0735 786 714.
The matter has been reported to police, but yet to issue a statement on the incident.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
