The Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) has announced the auctioning of forfeited vehicles and motorcycles from March 19 to March 28, 2025.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, ARA stated that the sale is being conducted in line with the Proceeds of Crime and Money Laundering Act (No. 9 of 2009).

“The Agency, in conjunction with the appointed registered auctioneer, M/s Keysian Auctioneers, wishes to inform the general public of the intended sale by public auction of the forfeited assets on an ‘as-is-where-is’ basis,” the notice reads.

According to ARA, the viewing of the items began on February 26 and will run until March 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at various locations. These include Old Mutual Towers in Nairobi, DCI Headquarters in Nairobi, Nakuru Police Station, Makindu Police Station, Bamburi Police Station, and Moyale Police Station.

The auction is scheduled to take place on different dates at the respective locations. Items at Old Mutual Towers in Nairobi will be auctioned on March 19, followed by DCI Headquarters in Nairobi on March 20. Nakuru Police Station will host the auction on March 21, while Makindu Police Station will hold its auction on March 24. The process will continue at Bamburi Police Station on March 25, concluding at Moyale Police Station on March 28.

To participate in the auction, bidders must pay a non-refundable fee of Ksh 1,000, payable via direct deposit to ARA’s account at KCB, KICC Branch (Account Number: 1210028794). Proof of payment is required to obtain an official receipt and bidding number.

Additionally, bidders must pay a refundable auction deposit to the auctioneer before participating in the auction. “The unsuccessful bidders shall be refunded the auction deposit by the auctioneer upon presentation of the original receipt within 14 days after the public auction,” the notice states.

ARA emphasized that it reserves the right to reject any bids below the reserve price and can annul the auction process at any stage without liability to bidders.

“In case of annulment, all bids submitted, including the auction deposit, shall be promptly returned to the bidders,” the agency stated.

The eligibility criteria for bidders will be subject to the provisions of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015 and the Public Procurement and Assets Disposal Regulations, 2020. The agency also reserves the right to conduct due diligence on the highest and second-highest bidders for each lot.

    Interested bidders can obtain further details from M/s Keysian Auctioneers via email (keysianauct@gmail.com) or phone (0722 752 583 / 0708 674 632).
