Nairobi governor Mike Sonko reckons that the handing over of some of the county functions to the National government was the best decision for the county. According to the doctor’s regulator, the leaked WhatsApp messages indicating delay in discharging patients and unnecessary admission of patients were authentic. Among them was a Chez Wou restaurant manager Deng Hailan who was caught on tape whipping a Kenyan worker for reporting to work late. A voter has moved to court seeking to stop the execution of a plan by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to handover some county functions to the National Government. The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council (KMPDC) on Tuesday cleared the Nairobi Women’s Hospital of overcharging allegations. In a statement, the council said that the facility charged fees not above the recommended rates as provided in the Medical Practitioners and Dentists (Professional Fees) Rules, 2016. Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has been arrested in Nairobi over alleged hate speech. The legislator was leaving Royal Media Services (RMS), Hurlingham. Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno was on Monday evening arrested alongside two MCAs. The lawmaker was apparently arrested for holding a Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting in Narok. Journalist Erick Kabendera has been freed after spending eight months behind bars. The journalist on Monday pleaded guilty to tax evasion and money laundering charges after reaching an agreement with the state. He will now be required to pay a Tsh100 million fine for money laundering and a Tsh172 million fine for tax evasion. The tax evasion fine will be paid in six months. Kenyans will be able to use their old passports for another year, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i said on Monday. According to the CS, old passports will still be in use until March 2021.
