The ministry of Education has announced opening and closing dates for the year 2020 in a letter to all regional directors of Education. In the circular signed by PS Belio Kipsang, term one studies for pre-primary, primary and secondary schools will kick off on January 6 and end on April 10. Cabinet Secretary for Information,  Communication and Technology, Joe Mucheru on Thursday reappointed a departed individual to the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB). In a Gazette notice dated October 17, CS Mucheru reappointed Robert Kochalle to the board for a period of 3 years effective October 21. Kahawa Tungu does however understand that Mr Kochalle passed on on 29, May 2018 while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital. A police officer attached to Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene was on Wednesday evening arrested for losing their loaded firearm. The bodyguard, Irene Kyama reported the incident at the Central Police Station, Nairobi. She told officers that she lost the browning pistol while on duty around Muindi Mbingu Street within the Central Business District (CBD). Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja has urged former Othaya MP Mary Wambui to decline her appointment as the chairperson National Employment Authority (NEA). The ex legislator was appointed to the board in a gazette notice issued by Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani on Monday. In a statement, Sakaja noted that while Wambui is qualified to serve Kenyans, she is not eligible to run the institution. The chair, as provided by Section 10(2) (c) of the National Employment Authority Act shall have at least 7 years experience in Human Resource Management or its equivalent. There was traffic snarl up along the Thika Superhighway near Muthaiga Police Station after 8 vehicles collided. A Virginia Coach bus lost control hitting the guardrails in the morning incident. This was following wrangles within the assembly involving speaker Beatrice Elachi and the majority leader Abdi Guyo. Last week, Elachi’s return to City Hall was marred with chaos after a group allied to Guyo clashed with another said to have ties with governor Mike Sonko. Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Wednesday reshuffled his cabinet and moved embattled Finance CEC Nerry Achar.
