A man is said to have killed his estranged lover on Monday morning in Nyaribo, Nyeri county. The 24 year old woman was killed by her former lover at around 1 AM. The two are said to have been in an altercation. The unidentified man who has since gone into hiding tracked down the deceased to a rented apartment. She was living with a friend. Police suspect the two could have had relationship issues which led to the heated confrontation. Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli has assured the people that Deputy President William Ruto’s name will be missing on the ballot come 2022. A Form Two student is on the run after he allegedly stabbed his neighbour to death in Kawap village, Samburu North. The suspect is said to have unsuccessfully tried to woo the neighbour’s daughter leading to a confrontation. The girl reported the suspect to her father who in turn took up the matter with the boy’s father. It is then that there was an altercation. University students will starting today (Friday) hold vigils in various campuses in honour of slain medical student Ivy Wangechi. According to a local daily, University of Nairobi, Moi University-Eldoret, Technical University of Kenya, Daystar, Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) students will show up for the vigil that will start at 4 PM. Two Nairobi county officers were on Thursday arrested as they received a Sh60,000 bribe in Spring Valley, Westlands. According to governor Mike Sonko, the two were with two other impostors when they were caught in the act. The county chief also noted that they were soliciting for a Sh100,000 bribe “in order to offer free county services and issue fake Single Business Permit licence to the public.” “The arrested officers had demanded a bribe of Ksh100,000 after negotiations the figure was reduced to Ksh60,000,” he wrote on Facebook. Former MP Danson Mungatana has been apprehended by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sleuths. Mungatana was arrested on Wednesday night in Nairobi and transferred to Malindi. He and 21 others have been accused of fraudulently acquiring Ksh.51.5 million from Kilifi County coffers.
