The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) wants the government to pull the plug on deal with Cuba. This is following the death of a Kenyan medic, Dr Ali Juma who was found dead in his hostel in Havana. According to the KMPDU secretary general, Ouma Oluga, the programme that was going to see the government cough up Sh215 million “has proven not beneficial” to Kenyan doctors. An unknown number of students of Kenyatta University were on Monday rushed to the hospital following a stampede at the institution’s library. There was panic after a lift malfunctioned while on the third floor of the building and later collapsing to the ground. The loud bang had students and faculty members scampering for safety. The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) has condoled with Likoni MP Mishi Mboko on the passing of her brother. Mboko who is also the party’s Deputy Director of elections lost her brother, Dr Ali Hamso on Sunday. The deceased, a local daily reports might have committed suicide. A former street urchin whose story went viral on the interwebs, has died Patrick Hinga who had for the longest time roamed the streets of Wangige market, was rescued by a former classmate, Faith Ng’ang’a in 2017. Ms Ng’ang’a announced his passing on social media saying that he died on Sunday morning but the cause still unknown. “With deep sorrow I want to inform you that Hinga has rested. Lawyer Assa Nyakundi who “accidentally” shot his 29 year old son in the chest on Sunday afternoon has been taken ill. The city advocate is said to have developed shock symptoms while being held at Muthaiga Police Station. He was helping in investigations into his son’s death. A 40 year old man on Friday night killed his father after he allegedly sold a piece of land without consulting him. The deceased, Charles Mararo was dragged out of his home last night and with one strike was no more. Mararo, 74, is said to have sold a piece of land in Marani sub county without duly informing his wife and children. “My brother hacked my father to death by use of a sharp panga after they disagreed over the sale of our small piece of land,” Isabellah Bonari, the alleged killer’s sister told a local daily. An Administration Police (AP) officer who killed his lover on Thursday under unclear circumstances has been arrested. Patrick Nyapara was apprehended ass he tried to sneak into Uganda on Saturday afternoon. According to Western Regional commander Rashid Yakub, the suspect who mans the IEBC offices in Navakholo, will be arraigned in court once investigations into the matter are complete. The King Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco has been the largest mosque in Africa with the tallest minaret since its completion in 1993. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has transferred at least 200 employees working in the motor vehicle inspection unit in what the board has termed as “staff reorganizions aligned to the authority’s strategic plan.” The reorganization, the authority says will help in optimizing services and enhance operational effectiveness. “In line with these changes the board has transferred 227 employees working in the motor vehicle inspection and registration department,” said NTSA chairman Jackson Waweru.
