Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) boss, Ezekiel Mutua has banned Dj Afro movies citing that the movies are distasteful to the younger generation. Legalize marijuana or bhang as is referred to by many, Raila Odinga Junior has urged the government. Raila Junior, ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s second son, said that there should be a serious discourse around its legalization and control. President Uhuru Kenyatta has rejected the Finance Bill 2018 and sent it back to parliament. The Bill, presented by Speaker Justin Muturi on Thursday, sought to suspend the 16% VAT increment on fuel products which has effected an increase in the cost of living. The fuel tax levy came into effect on 1 September 2018. The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday received an authorization letter allowing the airport to facilitate direct flights between Kenya and the United States. The letter was formally presented by US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec in the company of Transport CS James Macharia. Suspended Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba’s personal assistant Abednego Ominde has been arrested. Ominde was nabbed as he tried to make away with 14 files from the procurement and finance department. He was arrested alongside acting IEBC Finance Director Agatha Wahome and accountant Fatma Jama. The recent introduction of the 16 per cent VAT on all petroleum products starting September 1 has had an effect on the taxi-hailing companies. Among the taxi-hailing companies that have taken action after the recent fuel shortage due to the hiked pricing include Little, Uber and Taxify.
