6 Solai Patel Dam suspects will remain in remand at the Naivasha GK Prison over the weekend pending their bail/bond ruling on July 9, 2018. The suspects alongside the dam owner Perry Mansukh pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, manslaughter, neglect of duty and failure to prepare environmental assessment reports charges. Three more suspects Winnie Muthoni (Water Rights Officer), Tomkin Odhiambo (Regional Manager WRA) and Jacinta Were (Asst. Technical Operator WRA) also appeared at the Naivasha Law Courts. The World Heritage Committee has added Lake Turkana National Parks on the list of World Heritage in Danger, notably because of the impact of a dam on the site. L.Turkana National Parks are constituted of Sibiloi National Park, the South Island and the Central Island National Parks. In an article published by a local daily, Kenya power was accused of being involved in dubious businesses with companies that supplied substandard transformers. The Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji has ordered for the immediate arrest of the Perry Mansukh, the owner of Patel Dam which cost 47 lives in May. Mansukh is facing charges of manslaughter a day after the Water Cabinet Secretary, Simon Chelugui declared that the construction of the dam was not licensed therefore making the construction illegal.
