Armed men on Sunday raided former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga’s Opoda farm in Bondo, Siaya County. The thugs who reportedly cut through the fence are said to have stolen livestock; geese, sheep and goats. The guards recorded their statements at the Bondo Police Station on Monday but have apparently been fired for fear that it could have been an inside job. Mombasa Woman Representative Asha Hussein was yesterday charged with assault in a Mombasa court. Appearing before Chief Magistrate Julius Nang’ea, Asha denied assaulting Mayasa Hassan on May 11 at Majengo, causing her bodily harm. Hussein is alleged to have assaulted Hassan while at her working station as a traffic marshal on a road in Tudor. 700 students from Maasai Girls Secondary School in Narok stormed out of the school after some students complained of molestation by a male teacher. The school was consequently closed for a week following protests by the students, overnight. The Principal, Rose Kotek, confirmed the allegations and said that the closure is to allow for investigations to be carried out. A former teacher at Peponi House School has been sentenced to three and a half years for child sexual abuse in the United Kingdom. Peter Toner worked at Peponi between 2000 and 2013 as a Science teacher before his conviction last week for crimes committed back in the 1980s while working at St John Beaumont School. Corruption has grown by at least 240 per cent since President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto formed government in 2013, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has revealed. In a sworn affidavit dated June 8, the PS lists corruption cases that have cost Kenyans their hard earned money through flawed procurement processes since the duo took over the reigns of power in 2013. Former police commissioner Edwin Nyaseda’s son, Wayne Nyaseda has been accused of not settling a hospital bill amounting to a whooping Sh.4 million. The late officer’s son reportedly had his son, Thea Nyaseda admitted at the Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital on 3 June, 2016 and was discharged on 10 September 2016. Genge supremo Hubert Mbuku Nakitare, commonly known by his stage name Nonini is looking to take legal action against Kenya’s largest telecommunications company, Safaricom. The ‘manzi wa nairobi’ hitmaker says that the telco company is infringing on his copyright after it used his ‘Gigagagaga’ lyric without his consent.
