Malindi High Court on Wednesday threw out a petition challenging Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s election. The case filed by former Labour CS, Kazungu Kambi was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customs officers on Wednesday seized gold worth Sh100 million at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). 32grams of gold were found on a Tanzanian national accompanied by an invoice of $859,890 after the officers received intelligence on February 16. The man, 46, was headed to Dubai from Mwanza via Kilimanjaro. KRA’s Customs and Border Control took possession of the gold as investigations continue. Kenya has issued a travel advisory to South Sudan citing insecurity. “Kenyan nationals living or traveling to South Sudan to move away from and avoid traveling to areas where armed conflicts and inter-ethnic violence have occurred within the last six months,” CS Foreign Affairs Monica Juma said. Kenya’s leading mobile operator, Safaricom has been sued over costs imposed on customers using the Okoa Jahazi services. The petitioners, Eric Kithinji and Ashford Koome say the interest charged by the telco is illegal adding that there are no terms and conditions made known to the customers prior to using the services.
