Kilifi county, Magarini Polling Station presiding officer has been apprehended by the police for abandoning ballot boxes on Thursday. Nicholas Surei reportedly left the ballot boxes unattended after finding long queues at the constituency tallying centre. A search for him proved futile as he had switched off his mobile phone. Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet has warned of plans to ambush convoys transporting election materials from the polling stations to the tallying centres. The four are said to have clashed with the police as they tried to disperse crowds lighting bonfires on the roads. Kibera residents on Thursday morning protested against the fresh elections in the opposition stronghold. The Raila Odinga supporters blocked roads leading to the polling stations.
