The Directorate and Criminal Investigations (DCI) director George Kinoti was on Thursday elected to the INTERPOL executive committee. This was during the 89th session of the INTERPOL General Assembly, in Istanbul, Turkey. Kinoti who was voted in overwhelmingly will represent Africa at the key security organ. A court has found the deregistration of Isaac Mwaura as a member of the Jubilee Party, illegal. On Thursday, the court quashed his expulsion from the ruling party. The former nominated senator lost his seat after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal upheld a decision by the party to expel him on grounds of disloyalty and pledging allegiance to another political outfit. US authorities have exhumed the body of Kenyan woman Dorothy Ong’era, pending a postmortem. Ong’era died under unclear circumstances and was hurriedly buried by her alleges husband, Obadiah Kinara, in December last year in Texas. Last week, Judge Brooke Allen of the Texas Probate court ordered Kinara, who had strongly resisted the exhumation of her body, to pay Sh4.3 million as costs of the litigation. The body of a woman who had missing for a week was discovered in Mogotio, Baringo County. Veronica Kanini’s remains were found along the banks of Molo River in a “secluded and snake-infested thicket”. The perpetrator, Moses Kipchirchir Ruto, is said to have led the police to the said location where the officers dug up the victim’s decomposing remains. Kenya has recorded 35 new Covid-19 infections from a sample size of 4,246 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now at 0.8%. The total number of positive cases currently stands at 254,816 from a cumulative test of 2,811,260. Of the new cases, 33 are Kenyans while two are foreigners. 22 are males while 13 are females. The youngest is a five-year-old child while the oldest is 79 years. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customs officers on Tuesday seized 4.88 kilograms of gold and jewelry being smuggled through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). This was after the officers stationed at the airport identified a group of at least 30 female Kenyan travellers who were departing from Nairobi to Mumbai, India through Doha. Suspect in the Quiver Lounge shooting incident is set to face murder charges after one of the victims succumbed on Tuesday. DCI detective Festus Musyoka who sustained a gunshot wound to the neck died yesterday at the Nairobi Hospital, four months after the incident. Kenya has recorded 53 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 5,031 tested in the last 24 hours, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed. The positivity rate is now at 1.1 per cent. CS Kagwe said that 48 of the new cases are Kenyans while five are foreigners. Of these 32 are males and 21 are females, with the youngest being a 19-year-old while the oldest is 95 years. There was heavy gunfire in Kisumu on Tuesday as police officers foiled a robbery at Equity Bank on Ang’awa Street. City residents scampered for safety as the robbers exchanged fire with the cops. The High Court has given lawyer Miguna Miguna 72 hours to obtain an emergency travel document to facilitate travel back to Kenya. Justice Hedwig Ong’undi directed the Canada-based barrister to obtain the document from the Kenyan High Commission in Ottawa Canada or Berlin Germany.
