US authorities have exhumed the body of Kenyan woman Dorothy Ong’era, pending a postmortem. Ong’era died under unclear circumstances and was hurriedly buried by her alleges husband, Obadiah Kinara, in December last year in Texas. Last week, Judge Brooke Allen of the Texas Probate court ordered Kinara, who had strongly resisted the exhumation of her body, to pay Sh4.3 million as costs of the litigation. The body of a woman who had missing for a week was discovered in Mogotio, Baringo County. Veronica Kanini’s remains were found along the banks of Molo River in a “secluded and snake-infested thicket”. The perpetrator, Moses Kipchirchir Ruto, is said to have led the police to the said location where the officers dug up the victim’s decomposing remains. Kenya has recorded 35 new Covid-19 infections from a sample size of 4,246 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now at 0.8%. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customs officers on Tuesday seized 4.88 kilograms of gold and jewelry being smuggled through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). This was after the officers stationed at the airport identified a group of at least 30 female Kenyan travellers who were departing from Nairobi to Mumbai, India through Doha. Kenya has recorded 53 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 5,031 tested in the last 24 hours, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed. The positivity rate is now at 1.1 per cent. There was heavy gunfire in Kisumu on Tuesday as police officers foiled a robbery at Equity Bank on Ang’awa Street. City residents scampered for safety as the robbers exchanged fire with the cops. The High Court has given lawyer Miguna Miguna 72 hours to obtain an emergency travel document to facilitate travel back to Kenya.
