The Court of Appeal on Thursday upheld the Al Ghurair presidential ballot paper tender. The Dubai based firm will now print the presidential ballot papers that was scheduled to start on Tuesday. Court of Appeal judges on Thursday upheld the High Court ruling on rejecting National Super Alliance’s evidence that the President Uhuru Kenyatta met with Al Ghurair firm directors. The five judge bench ruled that the newspaper cutting did not prove whether ballot paper printing was discussed or not. Former Devolution CS, Anne Waiguru is leading in the race for Kirinyaga county governor seat, TIFA poll reveals. According to a new TIFA poll, Ms Waiguru will garner 55 per cent of the votes against Martha Karua’s 35 per cent. Zari Hassan has today lost her mother. Halima Hassan passed away while undergoing treatment at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala Uganda. She was hospitalized last month after she suffered a heart attack and after spending a few days in hospital, she returned home. She was later re-admitted at Nakasero where she died. The elderly and physically challenged people will have access to free matatu services a day before and during the General Elections. “As part of ensuring that everyone exercises their right to vote, we will be transporting the aged and physically disabled at no cost on election day,” said Matatu Owners Association Chairman, Simon Kimutai. Jacaranda hotel was earlier today closed down by CS for Health Cleopa Mailu following cases of cholera reported after it allegedly supplied food to a conference at KICC. The hotel’s management has denied supplying food to the conference. Guests were last week taken ill with cholera including Cabinet Secretaries Adan Mohammed and Henry Rorich.
