Safaricom’s twitter account was last night hacked, and used to send controversial tweets that caused a stir online, through its @safaricomPLC twitter account. In one of the tweets, the hackers dismissed the government’s demand that the next CEO be Kenyan. Telkom Kenya has withdrawn its sponsorship for the Telkom Ladies Hockey Team in what it called a “review of its brand assets strategy”. Auditor general Edward Ouko’s office is on the spot following ‘over-representation’ of some communities in his office. According to a report tabled on National Assembly’s committee on equal opportunity, out of 916 workers, 325 of them (35.48 percent) are from the Luo community. This is a significant rise from 13.79 percent of Luos in the department in a workforce of 834 people before the promulgation of the 2010 constitution. Auditor general Edward Ouko has unearthed a Ksh1.8 billion mega scandal that was executed NYS-style in the 2016/2017 financial year at the prisons department. The scandal, according to Ouko entails payments made to phoney suppliers, double payments for goods and services and procurement of fake bulletproof vests and jackets. In one instance, the prisons management led by former commissioner general Isaiah Osugu paid Ksh304.4 million for food in various prisons. Huduma Centre is under scrutiny over non-remitted Ksh266 million collected at Huduma Centres through e-citizen for police clearance certificates. A Kenya Airways (KQ) flight on Sunday dropped a body in London minutes before landing at the Heathrow Airport. According to reports from London’s Metropolitan Police, the body of the unidentified male stowaway landed in a garden in the Borough of Lambeth, South London. The Betting and Licencing Control Board (BCLB) will not renew the licences of 19 betting firms pending security vetting of their operations and directors. According to a statement issued on Monday, the companies affected include 13 casinos, six lotteries and eight betting firms. The board did not however list the individual companies.
