Employees from the Central Region at the management level at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) account for 37.6 percent of the total, a new report has shown. According to the report tabled in parliament last week, there are 50 executives from the region out of 133, which only accounts for 17.33 percent of the country’s population. The region is followed at a distance by Nyanza which has 12.03 percent against a population representation of 10.58 percent. Telkom Kenya has announced transfer of business assets to Airtel Kenya, signifying a close of deal in the merger announced this  year. A woman who gave birth to Quintuplets has died at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where she was admitted with her children. The 28-year-old Evelyn Namukhula reportedly complained of chest pains at around 10pm Saturday. Ms Namukhula gave birth through Caesarean Section at Kakamega General Hospital on March 13, 2019. Nairobi governor Mike Sonko today caused a stir online after appearing on a golden shoe during the good deeds meeting with Nairobi residents at the City Hall. The shoe is estimated to be around Ksh16 million. Eight people have died this morning in separate accidents in Kitui and Narok Counties. The first accident happened in Mutomo, Kitui County, along Kitui-Kibwezi Road where a matatu rolled several times leaving six dead and scores others injured. The second accident happened at Katakala area in Narok County, where a Super Premium Sacco matatu collided head-on with a landrover. 10 buffaloes have have been reported dead in Lake Nakuru National Park following anthrax outbreak. According to Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials,  doctors are on the ground vaccinating the buffaloes and monitoring the situation. “We have taken surveillance action and everything now is under control as our veterinary doctors are on the ground vaccinating the buffaloes and monitoring the situation,” KWS spokesperson Paul Githitu said. President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Prof Olive Mugenda to chair Kenyatta University Hospital board for three years. Health CS Sicily Kariuki has also been appointed to the board. Others nominated include Kithinji Kiragu and Gladys Ogallo. Prof Mugenda thanked  President Kenyatta and promised to have the hospital opened as soon as possible. A date like today 25 years down the line, Rwanda found itself in a pool of conflict involving the Hutu and the Tutsi, the country’s major tribes. Paypal will no longer process payments by essay-writing firms that sell academic papers to university students. On Wednesday, the US-based payment platform announced that the move was meant to curb vices in the education sector. This was after British Education Secretary Damian Hinds told Paypal that it is “unethical for these companies to profit from this dishonest business”. Residents in Tiaty, Baringo County were treated to unexpected ‘ceremony’ today when they went to receive relief food, only to be given alcohol by Chinese nationals. The incidence happened at Katikit Mixed Boarding Primary School where they received the treatment by Chinese Company, Ghuanshan International Mining Company Limited. President Uhuru Kenyatta today showed up with a Jubilee shirt in support of party candidate Ahmed Kolosh in the forthcoming Wajir West Constituency by-election scheduled for April 25. The Kenya Commercial bank will take over five more Imperial Bank Limited in Receivership (IBLIR) branches, Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has announced. In a statement, the Central Bank of Kenya and the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation said the move will see the recovery of another 19.7 percent of deposits owed to Imperial Bank customers to bring the total recovery to an approximate 54.7 per cent. Tumutumu Secondary School is on the spot for mistreating 32 girls whom the school management has accused of being lesbians.
