Five people have been confirmed dead after a plane crash in Makutano Forest in Londiani, Kericho County. All the five occupants of the Cesna 206 with registration 5Y BSE plane have lost their lives in the crash. The five include three men and two women, four of whom are whites whose nationalities are yet to be established. The plane is reportedly operated by Safari Link. The plane is said to have developed a mechanical problem before hitting a tree. However, the main cause of the accident is yet to be established. Kenya’s ambassador to Malaysia Ndegwa Muhoro has landed in the country for his duties. Speaking to Kahawa Tungu, his communication team said that Muhoro was not rejected by the host country as reported by sections of the media last week. “Despite rumours that he was rejected, he has arrived in Malaysia as ambassador and is expected to assume the role,” said his handlers. The National Police Service has issued a statement indicating that human rights activist Caroline Mwatha died procuring abortion. According to the police, Ms Mwatha was in constant communication with Alexander Gitau Gikonya in Isiolo, as they sought for a way to terminate Ms Mwatha’s five-month pregnancy, in which Gitau was responsible. “It was further established that an unidentified doctor had demanded a fee of Ksh7,000 and after negotiations the cost was reduced to Ksh6,000 which was sent to the lady by Alexander,” says the police. Energy solutions company, Lean Energy Solutions is facing allegations of tax evasion and employee mistreatment, Kahawa Tungu can reveal. According to information in our possession, the company allegedly has deprived the government over Ksh10 million worth of taxes from vehicle imports, rental charges and VAT claims. Georgia businessman who was pictured holding a gun and standing over two dead baby elephants has been forced to come out and explain his act, after a social media backlash. The man, Mike Jines, says that the baby elephants tried to attack him and he was forced to shoot them in self defense. Online shopping platform Jumia is, through its majority shareholder MTN Group Ltd, is planning an initial public offering in the US. According to reports by the Bloomberg, MTN targets to accumulate as much as USD600 million (Ksh60 billion) while the listing could see Jumia valued at USD1.5 billion (Ksh150 billion). Cabinet Secretary for Devolution Eugene Wamalwa was among the lucky ones evacuated during the Leopard Beach Resort inferno that razed down the facility. The inferno which started last night burnt five blocks of the hotel. Each block had 20 rooms. A lady in Riruta is crying for justice after she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend on January 8, who later left with their four-year old son to an unknown place.
