Kenya Power has announce a list of 11 counties that will face power outage for at least eight hours, for routine maintenance. Among the counties include Nairobi, Kwale, Kiambu, Nakuru Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Kisii, Isiolo and Mombasa. Java House in Kileleshwa was flattened this morning by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) in a bid to reclaim riparian land. A Shell petrol station was also closed in the unexpected exercise. The authority says it gave the owners a three-month notice and extended it by a week but the same was ignored. In a tweet, the coffee house said that they will be closed until further notice, without giving details. The auditor’s report on Standard Gauge Railway land acquisition shows that the project lost more than Ksh10 billion in dubious deals. In the report prepared by the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) Risk & Audit Department and the National Lands Commission (NLC) Audit department, KRC and disbursed Ksh3,584,992 to the wrong people who didn’t deserve compensation. In the first case, the payment of Ksh2,070,000 was wrongly paid to Mr Willy Kiplimo Metto on December 3, 2014 instead of Mr Antony George Mwalimbo. Reports have emerged that the water project launched by the  Deputy President William Ruto in Maua had been previously launched two times. The project first launched first in by Cabinet Secreatary for Water and Irrigation Eugene Wamalwa then in 2017 it by Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale. The project is being funded by the African Development Bank (ADB), while political leaders are taking mileage for the project. The government has stopped operations at the Nyayo Tea Zone in Narok County along the Mau forest, rendering over 1800 employees jobless. The operation was conducted by the Kenya Forest Service officers who invaded the Tea plantations on Saturday morning and ordered workers to park and go. The measure is part of the Mau eviction programme being run by the government. The Tea Zones have been blamed for encroachment of the Oloposimurum and Maasai Mau forest resulting in mass destruction and interference with movement of wildlife. Former West Mugirango Member of Parliament Henry Obwocha has been confirmed dead The former legislator collapsed in his Nairobi home Friday evening and was pronounced dead in Hospital, his family has confirmed. Obwocha has been the Chairman of the Privatisation Commission since April 2015 and had served previously as Minister of Planning and National Development. Hon. French legislators have implemented a ban on the use of of tablets, computers, and other internet-connected devices in school and during class hours. This is after it emerged that since the beginning of the school year in eastern France some 31,000 high school pupils have replaced their traditional textbooks by computers and tablets , a move popular with students but opinion is divided among teachers and parents. Whatsapp has decided to take advantage of the 450 million daily active users of the status feature by introducing advertisements on the platform. According to the Wall Street Journal, WhatsApp will show advertisements (ads) in the Status section from next year onwards. The status feature allows the users to share photos, videos, GIFs and even texts with their friends that disappear automatically after 24 hours. Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) website was yesterday was hacked and later pulled down, after the election overseer failed to regain access. A picture acknowledging the protests was placed front and centre where the Commission used to host their own content. Kenya is now free to export avocados to South Africa, after a 11-year ban of the Kenyan fruit export to SA due to pest infestation. The fruit was banned in 2007, leading to a Ksh2.8 billion revenue loss to both the farmers ang the government.
