Luchivya first shared the news of his departure this weekend while filling in for legendary Fred Obachi in his weekend Rumba show, Rogaroga. This follows enactment of the Media Services Act that restricts foreign ownership in a print media enterprise to 49 per cent. Kerosene will retail at Ksh87 in Nairobi after Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) increased retail price by Ksh3. In a statement sent to newsrooms,ERC Director-General Robert Oimeke said that they had not factored in the proposals that were continued in the Finance Bill. “In the pump prices published on 15th June 2018, the Energy Regulatory Commission did not factor the increase of Sh3.10 per litre in excise duty for Kerosene as proposed under the Finance Bill. Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has proposed removal of the monthly fixed charges for all consumer categories and harmonize them in the energy charge. However, this will see domestic consumers using 0-15Kilowatt Hours (kWh) part with Ksh12 for one kWh instead of the existing Ksh2.5 for the same. In the new power scheme proposed to start working on July 1, ERC suggests development of a new lifeline category of consumers with consumption up to 15 units (mentioned above), which accounts for more than 3.6 million customers. Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has reinstated Brand Kenya’s KSh20 million sponsorship for the Kenya Rugby Team, Shujaas. Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been attacked by rowdy youths at Mayoni area while coming from the opening ceremony of Fafa Medical School in Matungu, Kakamega. Early this month, French tycoon Vincent Bollore, warned that his logistics company would suffer losses from the ongoing graft investigations in African countries. Bollore is the owner of Ballore Transport and Logistics, the company that cleared the ship (Mykonos Bay) that vanished from Mombasa port carrying fertiliser, in what officials said that it was evading inspection from custom officials. Kenya Investment Authority Chief Executive Dr Moses Ikiara has been appointed the Acting Managing Director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). At least 15 people have been confirmed dead in Gikomba fire which broke out at midnight. More than 70 have sustained serious injuries and rushed to Kenyatta National hospital, according to the St John’s Ambulance.
