The National Treasury has scrapped off all state officials benchmarking trips in an effort to cut non-essetial spending. In a memo signed by Acting National Treasury Secretary Ukur Yatani, the move to cut on trips by state officials is aimed at improving spending discipline among State officers. Migori County First Lady, Hellen Obado, has awarded a couple in her county for using contraceptives as the county celebrated World Contraceptives Day on Thursday. While presiding over the event, Ms Obado urged couples to embrace contraceptives so as to reduce cases of maternal and child mortality. She went ahead to award the couple, who have been consistently using contraceptives in a community which has in the past fought the use of contraceptives. A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer and three administration police (AP) officers have been arrested over the Ksh72 million G4S, Stanchart heist. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the four were arrested on Thursday night. Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu admitted to illegally acquiring land worth Ksh100 million belonging to a widow, Ms Cecilia Mbugua. According to an investigation done by the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), Waititu was found guilty of having used the power of his office to fraudulently transfer Ms Mbugua’s land to Ms Esther Nyatu. The widow of the late Dutch tycoon, Tob Cohen, Sarah Wairimu, has now divulged that she has just learnt of claims that her deceased husband owed two unnamed Kiambu politicians Ksh35 million. In an affidavit filed in court on Thursday, Sarah expressed her doubts over the allegation noting that she was not aware of her husband having any debts. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Wednesday impounded six luxury cars believed to have been smuggled from other countries. According to a report by the DCI, the vehicles were three Mercedes Benzes and three Range Rovers. The vehicles were established to have been reported missing from their countries of origin. A joint funeral service will be held on Friday for the eight Precious Talent School Tragedy victims who succumbed after a classroom collapsed. The Monday incident left eight pupils dead and 64 bearing injuries. According to preliminary investigations, the classes caved in as they were not built up to standard. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has on Wednesday, 25, 2019 suspended 16 county officials following the tragic death of eight pupils at Precious Talent School. In a statement seen by Kahawa Tungu, Sonko affirmed his position to get to the cause of the tragedy which left 64 pupils admitted. The High Court has on Wednesday barred acting Kiambu Governor James Nyoro from reshuffling members of the county cabinet. Additionally, the court also blocked him from making any public appointment until a matter filed under a certificate of urgency by a Kiambu voter is heard and determined.
