Meru Diocese is in mourning following the gruesome death of a Catholic priest who was reportedly stabbed twice in the head on Tuesday. The Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge on Monday laid down regulations that Kenyans with huge amounts of money will have to meet to exchange their money for the new generation currency. East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament (MP) Simon Mbugua has filed a petition that seeks to oust Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge for allegedly flouting the law with new bank notes. The petition has also challenged the rolling out of the new currency notes that were unveiled during Madaraka Day celebrations. Detectives from the Directorate Criminal Investigations (DCI) have on Saturday arrested a man suspected to be linked to the murder of Police Constable Hellen Kwamboka. According to the DCI, the suspect, Erick Onyono Nyakundi, was discovered at his hideout in Suam, near the Kenya-Uganda border. The Government of Kenya has announced the abolishment of all older Ksh1,000 bank notes. Declaring during the Madaraka Day celebrations, the Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge noted that they have launched new bank notes hence the abolishment of the old ones. Kisumu’s Sunset Hotel has sent all its staff members home following reported prolonged financial difficulties.
