Ugandan senior opposition leader Kizza Besigye has on Thursday been arrested while on a radio interview. Besigye was arrested while giving a radio interview on a local station called Mubembe FM. Consequently, the local station was switched off. Kitui County Government has been left in shock after one of its officials was found dead in a thicket. Benjamin Muema Kinyali’s body is reported to have been found at a forest near Kwa Vonza, 25 kilometers from Kitui town. The National Government through the Ministry of Environment has ordered the shutting down of three companies located along Mombasa road, Nairobi. Issuing the order, Environment CS Keriako Tobiko noted that the firms, Powerex, Edible Oil and Usafiplus have been shut down over toxic gas emissions. He further directed the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) to start investigations into the issue. At least two Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) workers have been injured following an accident at a construction site. The crash, is reported to have happened between Kimuka and Nachu tunnel on the SGR route to Naivasha. According to sources, two locomotives separated and crushed into each other due to sharp breaking. One is noted to have had a wooden compartment and the other had a construction equipment. City Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has been sued for allegedly defrauding businessman Yogesh Patel Ksh56 million. In his application, Patel stated that he sued Wanjigi over a deposit for a controversial 0.818 acre piece of land in Nairobi’s Westlands area. A female police officer in Migori County shot dead a form two student on Tuesday evening at Onger market in Nyatike Sub County. Reports indicate that the student, Devis Lango Okumu, was hit by a stray bullet while he was strolling in the market. Eyewitnesses revealed that the Akala Secondary School student was shot by the officer who was among security officers who were controlling a mob that wanted to lynch a woman accused of pick-pocketing a trader at the market. Two mechanics have on Tuesday afternoon succumbed to injuries after a tyre burst in their garage in Mlolongo, Machakos County. Speaking on the incident, Mlolongo location chief Peter Ndunda confirmed the incident that claimed the lives of the duo, who are stated to be of middle-age. Sony Sugar Company Managing Director Bernard Otieno has been sent on compulsory leave after worker downed tools on Monday. A Mombasa Court has on Monday charged a UK citizen with sex trafficking 12 Nepalese girls and using them in his club. The UK citizen, Asif Amirali Alibhai, was charged with three counts related to human trafficking and promotion of human trafficking. In the documents presented before Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate, Amirali was accused of having harbored the girls for the purposes of exploiting the girls by means of deception.
