A student from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has been taken to court for fraudulently transferring Ksh41 million from I&M Bank to his own. Timothy Kang’arua is claimed to have devised a complex scheme to defraud the bank using its login credentials in the Safaricom web portal. According to the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA), Kang’arua registered over 300 mobile lines using ID cards of unsuspecting Kenyans and opened bank accounts using their details. One of the suspects in the Ksh2 billion graft investigations against Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been arrested in Kisumu County. According to Central Police boss Noah Katumo, the suspect, Jared Kwaga, was arrested for driving a car with a wrong number plate. The police boss asserted that the number plate was not originally registered to that vehicle. “We are conducting investigations to establish his intentions for using a vehicle with a wrong number plate,” Mr Katumo stated. Former Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rashid Echesa is noted to have appointed Citizen TV’s Mike Okinyi hours before he was dismissed of his ministerial duties. Echesa appointed Okinyi as the Media, Broadcasting and Communication Director for the 2020 World Under-20 Athletics Championships. Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones’ son has died from an alleged suicide at his home in Kiamunyi estate, outskirts of Nakuru Town. The legislator’s son, Collins Kipyegon, died at the War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru. According to the hospital’s doctors, Kipyegon passed on while at the Intensive Care Unit where he had been rushed to. Meru Senator Mithinka Linturi is facing another legal issue after his stepson took him to court over his Meru Senate office building, which he alleges to be his. A form three student of St Joseph’s Nyabigena High School has succumbed from injuries after being beaten by a school prefect who found him reading a Bible.
