The names of more than 170 associates of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein could be made public next month after a ruling from a US federal judge. The identities are being released under a settled lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre against sex trafficker and Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Anyone on the list has until 1 January to appeal to have their name removed. Epstein, a millionaire financier known to mix with high-profile figures like Prince Andrew, died in jail in 2019. Colorado’s Supreme Court has ruled that Donald Trump cannot run for president next year in the state, citing a constitutional insurrection clause. The court ruled 4-3 that Mr Trump is not an eligible candidate because he had engaged in an insurrection over the US Capitol riot nearly three years ago. The Trump campaign called the decision anti-democratic and vowed to appeal. It is the first ever use of Section 3 of the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment to disqualify a presidential candidate. Police are investigating an incident in which suspected thugs raided the rural home of former Cabinet Minister Dr Noah Wekesa on Monday night and stole his firearm, cash and other valuables in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County. No one was injured in the attack that happened as Wekesa slept. His guards did not hear the drama that happened in the middle of the night. A High Court in Embu has sentenced former DCIO of Embu North Sub County, Jervasio Mwaniki Nyaga, to 20 years in jail. Alphabet’s Google has agreed to pay $700 million and to allow for greater competition in its Play app store, according to the terms of an antitrust settlement with U.S. states and consumers disclosed on Monday in a San Francisco federal court. Former Embu North DCIO Jerevasio Njeru who was charged with sexually assaulting a suspect inside his office has been convicted. A High Court on Tuesday set aside a decision by trial Magistrate Henry Nyakweba that had set him free. Njeru was on May 31, 2020, at around 5 pm, accused of sexually assaulting a 42-year-old woman at Manyatta Police Station. Detectives have joined the family of a Cabinet Secretary in search of her missing 17-year-old daughter. The girl is said to have escaped from their home in Karen, Nairobi on Monday, December 18 afternoon. The female Cabinet Secretary was not at home when the incident happened at Bogani area. Detectives are investigating an incident in which a group of unknown people took an injured man to the clinic in Shauri Moyo area, Nairobi, and abandoned him there. The man aged about 25 died minutes later. Police said the group walked into the clinic carrying the deceased who had a stab wound in the head. Kenya’s Competition Authority has fined Carrefour Sh1.1 billion for abusing its ability to set terms for suppliers. “The supermarket chain is required to amend all its supplier contracts and expunge clauses that facilitate abuse of buyer power,” the anti-trust regulator said. The authority said the retailer was slapped with the fine for abusing its superior bargaining power over two of its suppliers; Pwani Oil Products and Woodlands Company. Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has recorded a police statement claiming his life is in danger over remarks by President William Ruto in regard to a ceremonial sword given to him. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) blocked East African Community (EAC) observers from setting foot in the mineral-rich country to observe the presidential elections. The polls are scheduled for December 20. EAC said Monday DRC, which is a member of the block had not approved their request to observe the polls. Three gun-wielding thieves in Colorado allegedly robbed a cheque-cashing business, but, before they could escape, a fourth person stole their getaway car, police said.
