Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s bodyguard has reportedly tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus and taken into quarantine. The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) has sought to table new evidence to further prove Erad Supplies and General Contractors Ltd used forged documents to defraud the State. Dorina Luchera, a detective based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi is nursing severe wounds after allegedly setting herself on fire following a domestic dispute with her husband. According to K24, the detective’s husband, Joshua Makanga, a Police Constable at Machinery Police Station in Makueni County reported that the wife poured paraffin on her body and set herself ablaze after a confrontation. “Police officers rushed to the scene and found that the officer had sustained 52 per cent burns all over her body,” read a report filed by the husband at the police station. Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) Director-General Mohamed Badi has stopped construction along Parklands Avenue by a developer accused of having grabbed public land. According to Star,  Badi arrived at the site accompanied with the area MCA Jayendra Malde, Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi and police officers forcing the workers who were at the scene to flee. The death of two lovebirds found dangling on ropes on Sunday, July 12, 2020 afternoon has left Machakos residents puzzled. According to Citizen, the lovebirds, identified as Dennis Pius aged 28 years and Susan Ndeto aged 19 years were found dead in their house, Kaumoni Village just a day after travelling from Nairobi. Preliminary investigations indicate that the cause of their deaths might be suicide as they found with ropes around their necks hanging from the roof. A woman in Nakuru county, Njoro Sub-County was locked inside her house with her sick 20-month-old baby over Sh10,000 rent arrears. Star reports that the house agent welded the door belonging to Rhoda Makoha’s two-roomed rental house leaving her four other children outside as they played. Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed 278 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, tally now stands at 9,726. Speaking during the daily briefings while in Kwale County, the CAS further announced that 99 people have recovered from the deadly virus and discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,832. Marriage services at the office of the Attorney General are set to resume under strict guidelines aimed to curb the spread of COVI-19. In an announcement by the State law office on Friday, CAS Winnie Guchu stated that the private ceremonies at the AG’s office will only allow a maximum of four people for 20 minutes. The state, with the help of anti-corruption agencies, is set to monitor the contributions to Sirisia MP John Waluke’s Sh1 billion fine. In an interview with Citizen TV, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak and DPP Noordin Haji stated that they would look into the sources contributing the money to ensure they were not proceeds of crime.
