The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) Tuesday issued a traffic advisory outlining alternative routes for motorists travelling to the Safari Rally event scheduled to take place between March 12 and March 15, 2026.

In a statement, KeNHA warned that heavy traffic is expected along major highways leading to Naivasha and Nakuru, where the global motorsport event will be held, as thousands of fans are expected to travel from Nairobi and other parts of the country.

To ease congestion and improve traffic flow, the Authority has recommended several alternative routes for motorists.

KeNHA also cautioned truck drivers against parking at undesignated areas along highways, warning that those who violate the directive will face immediate arrest.

    Alternative routes

Motorists travelling to the rally are advised to use the following routes:

    1. The Scenic Route

Nairobi – Rironi – Flyover (Magumu) – Njambini – Ol Kalou – Dundori – Lanet.

    2. The Adventure Route

    Nairobi – Rironi – Naivasha – Engineer – Ol Kalou – Dundori – Lanet.

    3. The Thika Trail

    Nairobi – Thika – Magumu – Ol Kalou – Dundori – Lanet.

    4. The Suswa Shortcut

    Nairobi – Ngong – Suswa – Narok – Nakuru.

KeNHA urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance, observe traffic regulations and cooperate with traffic police officers who will be deployed along major routes during the rally period.
