The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has ordered the probe into the controversial arrest of Daily Nation Journalist Mwangi Muiruri by Deputy President William Ruto’s security team. Over the weekend, the Murang’a based journalist was roughed up and handcuffed during a function at Kangari market, Kigumo constituency. Mwangi was reportedly trying to capture photos of the DP when hell broke loose. Kenya has recorded 12 new infections in the last 24 hours after 1,730 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 254,309. This brings the positivity rate to 0.7% with the cumulative tests so far conducted now at 2,771,792. Of the new cases, 12 are Kenyans with 6 being males and 6 are females. Police have arrested a Kisumu County official suspected to be the ring leader of a mob that stoned DP William Ruto’s convoy during his Kisumu tour last week. The government has weighed in on the current shortage of Antiretroviral (ARVs) drugs in the country pledging to ensure a stable supply by the end of January 2022.
