The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has ordered the probe into the controversial arrest of Daily Nation Journalist Mwangi Muiruri by Deputy President William Ruto’s security team. Over the weekend, the Murang’a based journalist was roughed up and handcuffed during a function at Kangari market, Kigumo constituency. Mwangi was reportedly trying to capture photos of the DP when hell broke loose. Safaricom has today launched a promotion that will reward business owners on its Lipa Na M-PESA and Pochi La Biashara services. Kenya has recorded 12 new infections in the last 24 hours after 1,730 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 254,309. This brings the positivity rate to 0.7% with the cumulative tests so far conducted now at 2,771,792. Of the new cases, 12 are Kenyans with 6 being males and 6 are females. Police have arrested a Kisumu County official suspected to be the ring leader of a mob that stoned DP William Ruto’s convoy during his Kisumu tour last week. Five students from Thome Boys Secondary School who were accused of torching their dormitory last month have been released on Sh100,000 cash bail each. 96 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This was from a sample size of 6,765 tested in the last 24 hours. The cumulative caseload now stands at 254,151. Of the new cases,  91 are Kenyans, 3 are foreigners while 55 are males and 39 are females. The youngest is a four-year-old child while the oldest is 83 years. The government has weighed in on the current shortage of Antiretroviral (ARVs) drugs in the country pledging to ensure a stable supply by the end of January 2022. Through a press statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the shortage experienced in the country is due to a global disruption in the supply chain. The CS, however, noted that the health Ministry is closely monitoring the global supply chain of all HIV commodities to ensure there are no stockouts in the future.
