Kenya has announced103 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours after 4,617 samples were tested. The cumulative caseload is now at 253,512. This brings the country’s positivity rate to 2.2%. From the new cases, the youngest is a three-year-old child while the oldest is 97 years. Nyali MP Mohammed Ali can now breathe easy after terror suspect Noordin Hassan Abdallah alias Kamanda was arrested in Majengo area, Mombasa county. Abdallah had skipped court sessions forcing a warrant of arrest to be issued against MP Mohammed Ali. In a warrant of arrest issued by a Kwale Court, the legislator was asked to present himself in court having stood surety for the suspect and securing his release. Kenya has reported 70 new infections in the last 24 hours after 5,755 samples were tested. The country’s caseload is now at 253,409. This brings the cumulative tests so far conducted to 2,714,255 with the positivity rate at 1.2%. Of the new cases, 65 are Kenyans while 5 are foreigners with 33 being male while 37 females. A warrant of arrest has been issued against Nyali MP Mohammed Ali by a Kwale Court over the surely of terror suspect. The terror suspect, Noordin Hassan Abdallah alias Kamanda missed court sessions on October 4 and November 1, 2021, prompting the courts to issue the arrest warrant against the MP. Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has threatened to take legal action against Environment CS Keriako Tobiko over links to the murder of Joanna Stuchbury. Nanyuki principal magistrate Ben Mararo ordered him to surrender to the authorities or face arrest. The Inspector-General (IG) of Police Hillary Mutyambai has ordered the reopening of Agnes Wanjiru’s case, a sex worker who was murdered after partying with British troops in Lions Court Hotel in 2012. A Form three student from a local school in Kariobangi has been confirmed dead after a botched robbery incident. According to detectives, the form three student was in the company of two other men who were snatching valuables from pedestrians in the area. The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has flagged 14 maize flour brands dubbed unfit for human consumption. Through a statement, KEBS faulted the millers for producing sub-standard flour and ordered the flour brands to be recalled from different parts of the country. Authorities have flagged a bus that was ferrying 100 youths from Kilifi to Garissa County in an alleged voter trafficking scheme. Reports reveal that the youths were being ferried to Garissa’s Ijara Constituency to register as voters ahead of the 2022 elections. Nurses Unions have slammed Health CS Mutahi Kagwe for “embarrassing” them by making their English test results public. Addressing the press yesterday the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Kisumu branch Secretary-General Ann Owiti weighed in on the issue saying the move by the CS exposed nurses to public ridicule and might lower the confidence of Kenyans in the health workers.
