A police officer has been left dead following a banditry attack in West Pokot. Authorities have revealed there were six bandits who were heavily armed in the attack and were drawn from Elgeiyo Marakwet. The officer, James Pkemoi was ambushed at Sermach Village, West Pokot County in what is believed to be a retaliation attack. Pkemoi, aged 33 was a National Police Reservist, Chesegon Division Assistant County Commission Naftali Korir confirmed. “The gunmen ambushed him on Wednesday evening while in the company of his two friends who escaped without being hurt,” Korir said. Police have commenced investigations into the alleged bomb attack at the home of Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi in Lukenya, Machakos County. Through a statement on Twitter, the police have revealed that following the claims by Mwangi that unknown men bombed his house, a report was filed at Thika Police Station by one Isaac Ouma. Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has doubled the consultation fees for patients. This means more pain for ordinary Kenyans as they will now pay Sh1,150 from the initial Sh650. The hospital has also increased user fees which will see patients pay more.
