A police officer has been left dead following a banditry attack in West Pokot. Authorities have revealed there were six bandits who were heavily armed in the attack and were drawn from Elgeiyo Marakwet. The officer, James Pkemoi was ambushed at Sermach Village, West Pokot County in what is believed to be a retaliation attack. Pkemoi, aged 33 was a National Police Reservist, Chesegon Division Assistant County Commission Naftali Korir confirmed. “The gunmen ambushed him on Wednesday evening while in the company of his two friends who escaped without being hurt,” Korir said. Police have commenced investigations into the alleged bomb attack at the home of Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi in Lukenya, Machakos County. Through a statement on Twitter, the police have revealed that following the claims by Mwangi that unknown men bombed his house, a report was filed at Thika Police Station by one Isaac Ouma. The report, according to the police details the attack was orchestrated by three unknown men in a white pick up vehicle although the registration number was not identified. Suspects in the horrific lynching of four elderly women in Kisii over suspected involvement in witchcraft have been arraigned and detained. The four appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Paul Mutai and where it was ruled they will be detained for 10 more days to allow police to complete investigations. Yesterday, there were circulations of clips capturing an incident in Kisii where four elderly women were set on fire for allegedly engaging in witchcraft. Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has doubled the consultation fees for patients. This means more pain for ordinary Kenyans as they will now pay Sh1,150 from the initial Sh650. The hospital has also increased user fees which will see patients pay more. Justifying the increment, the hospital said the funds will be used to finance projects for patients suffer from heart and kidney diseases as well as cancer.
