Independency party KANU has resolved to expel Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johanna Ng’eno over recent attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family. President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Anne Nderitu for the position of Registrar of Political Parties. Ms Nderitu has been holding the position in an acting capacity since August 10, 2018. Also nominated on Tuesday as assistant registrars are Ali Abullahi Surro, Florence Taabu and Makore Wilson Mohochi. 151 more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease in the country from 2,552 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 35,356. The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has extended the validity of special passes issued to professional media practitioners and critical non-journalistic press staff by three months. The six-month special passes, which the council began issuing in March, were to expire on September 30. The High Court has deferred plea taking of suspects in Kevin Omwenga murder to Wednesday, September 9. This is after one of the suspects, Chris Obure challenged the murder charge against him and sought to be made a witness in the case. Kenya has reported 83 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. According to the ministry of health, the infections were from 3,093 samples. This brings the toll to 35,103. Six of the new cases were foreigners while 77 were Kenyans. The youngest case was a one-year-old baby, while the oldest was 85. Of the new cases, 58 were males while 25 were females. The state has kicked off plans to upgrade Lanet Airstrip located at 81Tanks Battalion barracks, into a modern airport at a cost of Ksh3 billion.
