A United States court on Friday sentenced Baktash Akasha to 25 years in prison. Baktash Akasha and his brother Ibrahim Akasha pleaded guilty to six counts of drug trafficking charges in October 2018. While handing the sentence, presiding Judge Victor Marrero said he would not impose the maximum term of life imprisonment sought by prosecutors. The government has declared Monday, August 26 a public holiday to allow maximum enumeration of Kenyans during the 2019 Census exercise. 14 people have been arrested for allegedly polluting the environment by burning old tyres in Nairobi’s Donholm area. The operation was conducted by officers from the Nairobi County government and National Environmental Management Authority (Nema) on Friday. Police are holding two Chinese nationals who were arrested on Friday for running an illegal chang’aa distillery in Athi River. Area OCPD Samuel Mkuusi confirmed the incident saying the two, Wang Yalan and Wang Haijian, ran the plant in a house at Green Park estate. Two rugby players, Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba Mahaga, who were last week found guilty of sexual harassment have been sentenced to 15 years in prison. The players were accused by singer Wendy Kemunto of repeatedly sexually abusing her in their Seefar Apartment on February 10, 2018. 446 bags of counterfeit sugar were on Thursday night confiscated in Nairobi’s Kayole area by detectives from the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA). A postmortem examination carried on the body of a 35-year-old man who passed on during a sex escapade at a maize plantation in Uasin Gishu County has revealed that the man died as a result of chocking.
