Detectives have launched manhunt for Taka Taka producer and singer Alvindo for allegedly despising a government ban. The move follows a meeting between the Kenya Films and Classifications Board (KFCB) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday. The officers are investigating several cases of violation of the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222. The film regulator had banned the song for promoting violence against women. President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Friday signed project delivery agreements worth Sh67.5 billion for the Konza Data Centre and Smart Cities Project by telecommunications giant Huawei and the JKIA-James Gichuru expressway. The deal will be fulfilled through concessional financing and Public Private-Partnership (PPP). Eldoret and Nakuru towns recorded the highest number of reported murder cases in the country in 2018, a 2019 economic survey has revealed. The report released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), revealed that the number of murder cases recorded nationally increased from 956 in 2017 to 1065 in 2018. The last time the number of reported murder cases hit the 1000 mark was in 2014. Jubilee party candidate Ahmed Kolosh has won the Wajir by-election. Kolosh garnered 11,053 votes to defeat Kenya African National Union’s Sheikh Ibrahim who managed 6,532 ballots. According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the Thursday mini poll attracted a 65 percent voter turnout, with 17,606 votes having been cast. The Good News Church of Africa (GNCA) has has said none of its branches across the country will be barred from accepting donations from people presumed to be corrupt. Kenyan avocados are now allowed in the Chinese market, the state has announced. This follows a trade deal reached between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. The deal makes Kenya the first African nation to export the produce to the Asian market. According to the government statement, once the agreement is fully implemented the Chinese market is expected to absorb over 40 percent of the country’s avocado produce. The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has issued an apology over a recent tender publication. The company had advertised a whistle-blowing tender, raising eyebrows for a possible scandal in the firm. Investigations into the theft of Sh11 million from four Barclays Bank ATMs in Nairobi have revealed that the heist was an inside job. According to the latest update from the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, the investigations are almost complete. Reports indicate the robbers might have jack-potted the ATMs to spit the money. The technique is described by experts as electronic interference of an ATM machine, where hackers can command it to release all its content. Police men disguised as women from a worship service gunned down two gangsters on Tuesday in Dandora area, Nairobi. The incident followed reports by locals at Dandora Police station that they had been robbed at around 4.am. The two are said to have been members of a five-man gang terrorizing locals at Stage ya Maji area. The other three escaped unhurt. A new report by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has ranked counties in the northern region of Kenya as most corrupt. The report, which has been tabled before the Senate, ranks the counties on the basis of kickbacks residents have to part with to enjoy government services. In the report covering the periods between 2015 and 2017, Mandera, Marsabit, Turkana and Wajir counties, all in the hardship-prone areas, are among the 10 most notorious counties in graft. Drama ensued on Wednesday after a man stormed Huduma Namba registration centre in Dagoretti, Nairobi, and demanded his records be erased from the system. Two people have been confirmed dead and nine others admitted in hospital following suspected anthrax outbreak in Meru County. Reports indicate the nine are currently admitted at Muthara Sub-County hospital. The county has sent blood samples to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRi) for further examination. “Two patients died due to the infection and samples have been sent to Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) in Nairobi for confirmatory tests,” said Meru County’s Director of Communication Purity Nkirote.
