Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has termed memo doing rounds on social media that the county won’t pay employees who will fail to obtain Huduma Namba fake. According to the Governor, the memo is not official and doesn’t reflect the position of the Machakos County government. The National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) registration exercise was on Wednesday suspended in Kisumu County a day after it was launched country wide. Reports indicate that the officials, who were supposed to carry out the exercise, failed to show up at assigned stations. Local residents who turned up for the exercise were forced to return home after hours of waiting. Turkana County government has cancelled a Sh20 million cultural event which was slated for later this month. Announcing the move, the county governor Josphat Nanok linked the suspension to the drought which has affected many households in Turkana County. “We have postponed the annual tourism and cultural festival that had been scheduled from April 25 to 27 ,” Nanok said. Revelers in Nairobi will have to put up with fewer clubs in the county if a new bill seeking to cap the entertainment joints at 3000 is adopted into law by the County Assembly. A former procurement officer at Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Machakos County has been sentenced to a 6-year jail term or pay Sh1.5 million fine for soliciting for Sh1.6 million bribe. The accused identified as Davis Chele Edewa appeared before Kajiado Chief Magistrate Susan Shitumbi. He was charged with the offences of soliciting and receiving a benefit contrary to the law.
