A Kisumu court has recommended that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation take action against four police commanders in charge of the Nyalenda operation that led to the death of Samantha Pendo. The five include former Kisumu County Commander Titus Yoma and four other officers. According to Resident Magistrate Beryl Omollo, evidence produced in court overwhelmingly indicts police for the death of the minor. West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo’s convoy was on Tuesday attacked at Lami Nyeusi area in West Pokot-Turkana border while headed for a peace meeting. During the early morning attack, heavily armed bandits are alleged to have sprayed the convoy with bullets before Lonyangapuo’s security responded. The governor was in the company of Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto, Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong and Kacheliba’s legislator Mark Lonunokol. Four street urchins are still missing days after being dumped in Chemususu Forest in Baringo. The four aged between 12 and 20, were among 41 street children reported to have been ferried by the County Government of Nakuru and dumped in the forest at night. The ministry of interior has accepted Human rights activist Okiya Omtatah’s move to temporarily suspend President Kenyatta’s police housing directive. According to a memorandum of understanding reached between the two parties on Tuesday, the government will continue housing junior officers until September 13, 2019. Three people were killed on Tuesday and two others left with injuries after a grisly road accident at Maseno along the Kisumu-Busia highway. The accident which occurred near Maseno University, is reported to have involved two canter trucks and a motorcycle.
