Three suspected carjackers were on Saturday night shot by police at Mithuri area on the Naivasha – Nakuru highway. The three including a woman who police believe was a mastermind of carjacking incidents in the area, were gunned down after they defied police orders to surrender. A man died on Saturday after he was knocked down by a vehicle belonging to the County Government of Bomet. According to eyewitness report, the 45-year old was crossing the busy Bomet-Sotik Road when he was hit by the vehicle and died on the spot. Schools in Embu County are recording a high rate of absenteeism after stray dogs took over the streets scaring away school going children. The dogs are reported to attack on the roads and raid when the pupils are having their meals. Four people suspected of stealing drugs and laboratory equipment from Machakos level 5 hospital have been arrested in Machakos County. The four operating private clinics in the county, were busted selling an assortment drugs bearing Government of Kenya (GOK) and Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) stamps and several other medical gear. Kiambu and Nairobi have been ranked as counties with the highest crime rate in the country, the National Police Service 2018 report has revealed. The report further shows that crime rate in the country increased by 12% in 2018 compared to the year 2017. According to the report 65,820 crimes were recorded in 2018 countrywide compared to 59, 029 in the year 2017. Kiambu County recorded 5,364 cases while Nairobi came second with a total of 5,212 criminal cases recorded. Five inmates in Eldoret Prison on Thursday pleaded to be transferred from the facility citing continuous homosexual harassment. According to the men, they are tired of other men soliciting anal sex from them everyday. The men believed to be 18 years old and some underage, appeared before Eldoret Senior Principal Magistrate Harrison Barasa who ordered the claims to be investigated. Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has constituted a team of prospects to review files of five top Kenyan banks believed to have concealed, facilitated and abetted Ksh9 billion NYS scam. In a statement on Thursday, Haji noted that investigators drawn from the office of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) found out that Kenya Commercial Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Equity Bank, Cooperative Bank and Diamond Trust Bank were involved in the scandal. “The DCI has today forwarded the investigation files relating to the commercial banks with recommendations,” said Haji.
