Security has been beefed up across the country as the festive season begins, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutymbai has said. Speaking to members of the press on  Monday, the IG said a total of 3,000 prison officers have been released by the prisons department to work with the police service to boost security during the Christmas and New Year festivities. British sex workers have called for expedited probe into the killing of Kenyan woman Agnes Wanjiru by a British soldier. Wanjiru, a 21-year-old mother, was brutally murdered as she partied with British soldiers and her body dumped in a septic tank in Nanyuki, Kenya, in 2012. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday launched Kenya’s first modern shipyard at the Kenya Navy Base in Mtongwe, Mombasa County. Police have arrested four suspects linked to fraudulent vehicle logbook dealings in the country. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the four are being held for forgery and using the document to fraudulently obtain credit in a scam involving some officials working with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). Six suspects linked to the lynching of four elderly women in Kisii have been denied bail. In a ruling delivered on Thursday, the High Court in Kisii ordered the suspects be held in custody pending their trial. A court in South Africa has ordered the country’s former President Jacob Juma to return to prison three months after he was placed on medical parole. The High Court has allowed the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) to freeze Ksh113 million found in the bank account of a friend to one Felista Nyamathira Njoroge who recently made headlines after receiving over Ksh100 million from a Belgian boyfriend. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has indefinitely deferred the hearing of petitions seeking the removal of High Court Judge Said Juma Chitembwe from office.
