Baringo Senator William Cheptumo will be laid to rest at his Tunoiwo home in Bartabwa Ward of Baringo North Constituency on Saturday March 1, 2025.

A funeral committee at his home said a requiem mass is also set to be held at AIC Milimani, Nairobi on Thursday February 27, 2025.

Meanwhile, family, relatives and friends are meeting daily from Tuesday February 18 to Tuesday February 25, 2025.

Cheptumo died at the Nairobi Hospital where he had been battling undisclosed disease.

His family said he had been sick for some time until his death on February 16.

He had been discharged from hospital last week but his condition deteriorated prompting his hospitalization again, a family member said.

President William Ruto mourned the death.

He said Cheptumo was a progressive leader who was dedicated to public service.

“He was vocal, hardworking and a tireless champion for the transformation of Baringo.

The Cheptumo family, friends and the people of Baringo County are in our thoughts and prayers,” he said in a post on X.

Several other leaders have mourned him as a dedicated leader.

His body was moved to Lee Funeral Home.

Cheptumo, 57 was a lawyer by profession and had served as a Member of Parliament for Baringo North in the area between 2008 and 2013.

He belongs to UDA and managed to win against former area senator Gideon Moi.
