Police in Nairobi are investigating the suspected murder of a 35-year-old bodaboda rider whose body was found outside a shop in the Riruta area of Dagoretti Sub-County.

The incident was reported on Thursday by a local who told police she discovered the body while opening her café in the morning.

Police responded to the scene where they found the lifeless body of a man identified as Selvin Omete, a bodaboda rider who operated from Ngina Road Stage.

Police said the deceased had sustained severe head injuries and was bleeding profusely, indicating he may have been fatally assaulted.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations have been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible. No arrests had been reported by Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, police in Embu County have launched investigations into the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered along the banks of River Cevi in Ngeniari Village, Embu East Sub-County.

According to police, the incident was reported on Thursday.

Police visited the scene and established that the deceased was an unknown male adult believed to be about 40 years old.

The body was found lying beside River Cevi with the head partially submerged in the water. Investigators observed an injury at the back of the head, while the man’s left ear had been cut and one tooth was missing, suggesting he may have been assaulted before his death.

Crime scene personnel from the DCI processed the scene before the body was removed to Runyenjes Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police have commenced investigations to establish the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding his death and those responsible. No arrests had been made by Thursday evening.
