A middle-aged man was found dead after he had been killed and his body abandoned on the roadside in Kaanwa area, Tharaka Nithi County.

Police said the body of the man was found a few meters away from Weru Market with injuries in the ear, face and arm. The motive of the murder was not established. Police said they did not identify the man and the body was moved to the mortuary pending others procedures.

Murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to solve them.

In Embu, police said they recovered a human leg from a river after suspected death or murder of a man elsewhere.

The leg was found floating on Rupingazi river on February 4, police said adding it was stuck on a rock.

The leg was moved to the mortuary pending investigations on the source.

In Eshiongo, Navokholo, Kakamega County, a 60-year-old man drowned in a river in an incident.

The body of Albert Andayi was found on Naruchira river in Eshiyenga village long after his death.

Police said they had not known the circumstanced under which the drowning happened.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And villagers in a village in Nyamaiya, Nyamira County rescued a minor from a 15-feet deep toilet after her mother threw her there.

The mother escaped the scene after the incident on February 5. A man who had gone to use the pit latrine in Nyabite village said he heard the baby crying and raised an alarm alerting locals who joined to rescue the infant girl.

She was taken to the hospital pending an investigation into attempted murder, police said.

And nine guards were injured in a confrontation with a group that was guarding a disputed piece of land near the Kenya Railways at the Nairobi Terminus.

The group was mobilized and attacked the guards who were trying to bring down a perimeter wall near the Auto Port Company. The guards were rushed to the hospital as police were called to the scene to restore calm in the February 5 drama. Police said they are investigating the incident. Officials said the railways land has been under threat from grabbers eyeing it in the area.
