Police in Kisii County are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man whose body was found inside a water well in Kisii Central Sub-County.

A relative said her brother, Jared Oraro, had gone missing from their homestead earlier in the evening Tuesday.

Family members reportedly began searching the area and discovered his clothes lying near a water well whose metallic cover had been left open.

Out of suspicion, residents pumped water out of the well and, after the water levels reduced, they discovered the body of the 23-year-old man about 10 metres deep inside the well.

Police said the body was manually retrieved and upon examination no visible injuries were observed.

The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

And police in Ruiru, Kiambu County, are investigating a suspected murder after a 58-year-old man was found dead inside his house in the Membley area.

According to police, a Clean Water truck operator based at the OJ area had sent his turnboy to call the company driver, John Wagura Ndambo, from his house at the BTL area at around 7.30pm.

The turnboy reportedly found Ndambo lying motionless on the bed and alerted the operator, who went to the house and confirmed the death.

Police officers who visited the scene established that the deceased had visible head injuries and blood was oozing from the mouth, raising suspicion of murder.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home pending autopsy and further investigations.

Police said no arrest had been made over the murder.

Elsewhere, police in Kandara, Murang’a County, have launched investigations after thieves stole five solar panels from Gacharage Dispensary.

According to police, the theft was reported on Tuesday afternoon by the officer in charge of the dispensary, together with pharmacist.

The two said they arrived at the facility at around 10am and discovered that five solar panels installed on the rooftop were missing.

Officers from Gacharage Police Post visited the scene and established that the panels had been removed after the suspects unscrewed the nuts and bolts securing them to the roof.

Police suspect the thieves gained access through the rear side of the compound after part of the perimeter fence appeared disturbed.

Authorities also noted that the health facility had no watchman guarding the premises at the time of the incident.

The value of the stolen solar panels had not been established by the time of the report, as investigations continued.
