Boeing had temporarily reduced the production of the 737 Max aircraft after the accident of the Ethiopian airline flight which left 157 people dead.

The  company said that they will reduce the production of the aircraft from 52 to 42 as from mid April.

The aircraft model is currently grounded as preliminary findings suggest its anti-stall system was at fault

“We now know that the recent Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 accidents were caused by a chain of events, with a common chain link being erroneous activation of the aircraft’s MCAS function. We have the responsibility to eliminate this risk, and we know how to do it,” the statement from Chief Executive Officer Dennis Muilenburg said.

The CEO had earlier this week apologized to the families of the victims saying that Boeing was working towards improving the aircraft.

Online users however disregarded the apology stating that the company had focused more on making profits and not safety.

“Why did they let them fly? Because they were in competition. They want to sell more. Human life has no meaning in some societies,” Dr Getachew Tessema said.

The father to the Ethiopian Airlines pilot had stated that the apology came a little too late.

To the last minute they struggled as much as they could but unfortunately they were not able to stop it.I don’t regret that he was a pilot. He died in the course of his duty,” he said
