The fight against narcotics trafficking and transnational organised crime has received a major boost after the Government of the Republic of Türkiye handed over computers and office equipment to the DCI’s Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU).

The equipment handed over during a ceremony held at the DCI Headquarters, was officially received by the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, alongside senior DCI officers, underscoring the deepening security cooperation between Kenya and Turkey.

Leading the Turkish delegation was the Türkiye ambassador to Kenya Subutay Yüksel, accompanied by the Counsellor for Security and Interior Affairs, Ibrahim Cildir and the Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Kenan Yigit.

Amin hailed the donation as a timely and strategic boost that will strengthen the ANU’s investigative capability, intelligence management, and operational coordination in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks.

“This generous support reflects the strong friendship and strategic partnership between Kenya and Türkiye. It significantly enhances our operational readiness and institutional capacity in the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking,” said Amin.

He further commended Türkiye for its continued support in training and capacity building for DCI officers, noting that the collaboration has greatly sharpened investigative skills, professionalism, and preparedness to confront emerging security threats.

Yüksel praised the DCI for its sustained and relentless war against narcotics trafficking and reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening security cooperation with Kenya.

“We stand firmly with Kenya in this fight and will continue supporting efforts aimed at enhancing collaboration and protecting our societies from transnational crime,” he said.

The handover marks another milestone in the growing partnership between Kenya and Türkiye, as the two countries continue to strengthen joint efforts against organised criminal networks and the global narcotics trade.
ANU has been staging operations to address the menace of drug trafficking and consumption. This has led to the arrest of dozens of suspects who are facing charges in courts.

The drugs include meth, cocaine, heroine, bhang and other substances. Kenya has declared the menace a threat to national security.
