    Boy drowns in dam in Kathonzweni

    A 13-year-old boy drowned in a dam in a village in Kathonzweni, Makueni County.

    Witnesses and police said the incident happened on December 27, 2025 in the Kitise area.

    The boy was in the company of others and had gone for swimming sessions in the dam when he drowned, police said.

    The body was retrieved and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures

    Meanwhile, a man was slashed and killed in an attack in Nessut area, Njoro, Nakuru County.

    Francis Mugo, 30 was attacked by a group of people who wanted to rob him and his girlfriend as they walked home after a night out.

    Ths incident happened on December 27 morning, police said. Mugo sustained fatal injuries in the throat and succumbed in hospital while the girlfriend had head injuries.

    The deceased’s body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy while the injured woman is admitted in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

    The hunt on the assailants continued on Sunday, local police said.

    And there was drama at the Makongeni police station in Thika when a suspect in custody attacked and injured a police officer.

    The suspect had been detained for assault when he turned violent and attacked the officer on duty on December 26, 2025. He also attacked with blows other suspects in custody. He was placed to spend his time in the cell corridors for fears he would harm other suspects after he had been subdued and beaten up.

    In Navakholo, Kakamega County, a police officer was hit by a flying stone in the head as he and others tried to stop a night disco in the area. He was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted in a serious condition, police said of the December 27 incident.

    And a police officer died in hospital after an accident on December 26 in Industrial Area, Nairobi.

    He was identified as constable Shamalla Joash of Nachu police station in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
