An eight-year-old boy drowned while swimming with other children at Mwaepe Beach in Msambweni, Kwale County.

The deceased was a Grade Three pupil at Malalani Primary School.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday, August 14, 2026, while the boy was swimming with others at the beach.

Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful, and he succumbed to the drowning.

Police officers from Diani Police Station, accompanied by Scenes of Crime personnel, visited the beach and documented the scene.

The boy’s body was subsequently moved to the Kwale Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

And the decomposing body of an unidentified middle-aged woman has been found at Mwitubwi Church of God in Luanda, Vihiga County.

The body was discovered on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the church.

Police officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Luanda visited the scene and processed it.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the site where the body was found may have been a secondary crime scene.

Investigators are now searching for the suspected primary scene, which is believed to be in the vicinity.

Police said there were no visible motor vehicle or motorcycle tyre impressions at the scene, raising questions about how the body was brought there.

The body was moved to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the identity of the woman and the circumstances surrounding her death.
