Brett Howden is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre playing in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Vegas Golden Knights.
Born on March 29, 1998, in Oakbank, Manitoba, he stands at 6 feet 2 inches and weighs around 201 pounds.
Known for his size, skating ability, two-way play, and strong work ethic, Howden has developed into a reliable middle-six forward valued for his energy and playoff performance.
He was selected 27th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Siblings
Brett grew up in a hockey family in Oakbank, Manitoba, as the younger of two brothers.
His older brother, Quinton Howden, born in 1992, is a former professional hockey player who was drafted 25th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Quinton played in the NHL and later in various professional leagues, serving as a mentor and role model for Brett throughout his development.

Career
Howden honed his skills in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors, where he served as captain and put up impressive numbers, including strong offensive seasons that caught the attention of NHL scouts.
After being drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning, he made his NHL debut with the New York Rangers (via trade) in the 2018-19 season.
He spent parts of four seasons with the Rangers before being traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in 2021.
In Vegas, Howden quickly became a fan favorite for his gritty style and contributed significantly to the team’s 2023 Stanley Cup championship run.
Over his NHL career, spanning nearly 500 games, he has recorded around 74 goals and 89 assists.
Known for elevating his game in the postseason, Howden has provided depth scoring, strong faceoffs, and physical play while helping anchor the Golden Knights’ forward group.
Accolades
In junior hockey, Howden captained the Moose Jaw Warriors and won gold with Team Canada at the 2015 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
He has also represented Canada at other international youth events.
While he has not yet earned individual NHL All-Star honors, his consistent contributions, leadership in juniors, and key role in a championship team highlight his value as a dependable NHL player.
