    Siblings

Bryce has two siblings, an older brother named Trey and a younger sister named Raina.

Trey McGowens has also pursued a career in basketball, having been part of the G-League roster for the Los Angeles Clippers after going undrafted.

The siblings share a strong athletic background, influenced by their parents, both of whom were collegiate athletes.

Their mother, Pam, played basketball at Western Carolina and is now a high school basketball coach, while their father, Bobby, was a dual-sport athlete in football and basketball at South Carolina State.

Raina, the youngest sibling, is also involved in basketball and is a guard at Wren High School, class of 2024.

    Career

In college, McGowens played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the 2021-2022 season. He made an immediate impact, scoring 25 points in his debut against Western Illinois.

Throughout the season, he averaged 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, earning Third Team All-Big Ten honors and a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

His performance included a standout game where he scored 26 points against Ohio State.

Following this successful freshman year, McGowens declared for the 2022 NBA Draft, forgoing his remaining eligibility.

In the NBA, McGowens was selected as the 40th overall pick in the 2022 Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves but was traded to the Charlotte Hornets shortly after.

He signed a two-way contract with the Hornets on July 2, 2022, allowing him to split time between the NBA team and their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.

On February 26, 2023, his contract was converted to a multi-year deal due to his promising performance.

Over two seasons with Charlotte, he played in 105 games, averaging 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game.

However, McGowens was waived by the Hornets in July 2024 and subsequently signed a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers on July 11, 2024.

For his senior season, he was honored as the South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year and selected to participate in the Jordan Brand Classic.

In college, while playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the 2021-2022 season, McGowens was recognized as a Third-Team All-Big Ten selection by both coaches and media.

He also received the Big Ten Newcomer of the Year award from the Associated Press and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
