The Members of Bungoma county assembly have started signing a petition for a vote of no confidence on the speaker who they claim is biased.
“He has shown his biasness and leaning towards the executive in many fronts together with the Majority Leader Florence Wekesa. Key among the many sticky issues are the award of bursaries which the executive wants to steal the show from us. Another crucial issue has been the lack of the formation of the service board for the assembly”said Majimbo Okumu the ward representative for Khalaba constitution.

Lwandanyi MCA, Tony Barasa, 50 out of the 60 MCAs have agreed to sign the petition saying that the speaker had become a puppet of the governor Wycliffe Wangamati neglecting their oversight role
“We want to send this Speaker home because he seems not to understand his work. He has let the executive to run the Assembly and this has defeated our oversight role,” he said.
They said that the Speaker, the majority leader and Mr Wangamati are pushing for a relative to Tongaren MP to be in charge of the service board despite lacking the necessary qualifications, a move the MCAs from both the government and the opposition have vehemently opposed.
The house business committee is expected to convene a special meeting to facilitate the impeachment of the speaker and majority leader tin order to restore the sanity of the county assembly.
