A businessman was found dead in his car after he had been stupefied in Gathoge area, Kirinyaga County.

He was identified as Alfred Muriithi Muriuki, 35 who was a businessman in the area.

His body was found in his car on Sunday April 5 morning long after he had died.

The car engine was running when it was discovered along Difathas- Gituto murram road in Kanjuu sub location, Njukiini South location, Njukiini division in Kirinyaga East Sub-County.

At the scene, it was realized that motor vehicle Mazda Axela silver in colour was parked on a small feeder road with engine running and one male occupant on the driver’s seat who was sitting unconsciously inclined to the left with vomit on the left cheek, police said.

The doors were open and the man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It was said that the vehicle was first seen parked at the said scene and an unidentified female character hurriedly alighted and left towards Difathas shopping centre.

The body was preserved in the said hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Police said they are investigating murder in the case and efforts to trace those behind the same were ongoing. A team visited a club the man had been at for the better part of Saturday night and Sunday morning as part of efforts to trace the persons involved in the stupefying and death.

The team reviewed security footage to get more information on the women who are believed to have been dining with him before they spiked his drink.
