A Garissa market was on Thursday set on fire after Ali Korane was declared the winner of the August 8 election.

Ali garnered 55, 968 votes against Wiper party candidate, Nathif Jama’s 50,471 votes.

Shops close to the market also suffered the same fate as they caught fire.

Garissa county government fire fighters tried fighting the fire as the owners tried sallvaging some of their property.

Rowdy youths are said to have set everything around that area on fire as they fought the police.
