civil societyKura Yangu Sauti Yangu, a coalition of civil society organizations has declared that it has found ‘important contradictions and massive anomalies in the electoral numbers released by the IEBC’ in the just concluded poll.

The umbrella has under it, Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), AfriCOG among others.

In their findings, the group notes that the voter turn out was 15,073,662 against 15,518,971 that was streaming on the television screens. The voter turn out stands now on at 15,591,217 on IEBC’s portal which creates a gap of 517,555 votes.

Their 500 monitors deployed to all the 290 constituencies have reported irregularities like ‘the rejected votes in 288 constituencies do not match what is recorded’ in the now famous form 34Bs and no grand totals for rejected votes in 25 constituencies.

civil societyAccording to them, the number of valid presidential ballots cast as reported on IEBC’s portal in comparison to those announced by its Chairman Wafula Chebukati are totally different.

“The total number of registered voters certified after the KPMG audit was 19,611,423, the total number of ballots in the ballot packing list was 19,613,846. The IEBC Chairman declared the total number of registered voters as 19,637,061.”

In their findings, the difference in the number of certified registered voters and those announced by Chebukati when he declared the presidential election result on Friday also differed.

Their third finding highlighted an anomaly in the presidential results announced at the constituency level and the county tallying centres.

“For example in Kisumu, valid votes total up to 378,903 against 430,423 from constituencies in the county, showing a deduction of 60,520 votes.”

The group is considering applying for Amicus status in the petition that NASA plans of filing.
